If you have found your way to this website...you are interested in water. Concerns about water availability and quality are common. Many people are moving to an alternative water supply for health reasons. Here are some examples of contaminants in our water:
Water Quality...Water Availability...Water responsibility..
Test your water source - public or private. Find out what you are drinking. Keep informed about what is appearing in our water supplies. Be aware. Consider rainwater harvesting from your roof as a healthy alternative.
- Antibiotics (not tested for). Consumers flush pills etc into water supply. Farmed animal's excrement contains antibiotics which get into our water supply via run-off from the soil which flows into our catchments and lakes.
- Atrazine (not tested for) - a commercial weed killer. http://www.democracynow.org/2009/8/25/epa_fails_to_inform_public_about.
- Arsenic - becoming more common in my local water supply
- Sulfates - notice your water becoming more yellow?
Watersmart is about being prepared. Its about individuals finding out more about their water and moving towards greater self-responsibility...which is better for us and our planet.
This site provides you with information and links to help you better understand water, the issues in your local area and some of the options out there for you.
